Exciting Partnership with Deakin University

Our mission at The Women's Tennis Foundation is to ensure that women and girls are thriving through tennis; to achieve this, players should be able to live in and work in psychologically safe and supportive environments.

To bring this mission to life, we are delighted to announce that we are partnering with Deakin University to provide support for a landmark national research survey into online harassment of Australian elite athletes competing in women’s sport.

Deakin will host a national workshop in 2023 to share the results of the study with relevant stakeholders who will collaborate to develop solutions and strategies to mitigate the effects of gendered online harassment in women’s sport.

We are inviting players, both those who are currently competing or who have left the professional tour to take part in an anonymous survey to share their experience and have their say. If you would like to contribute to this important research, please click the Survey Link and ensure your voice is heard. (Deakin Ethics Approval ID 2022-313)

The Foundation’s Purpose:

01 — Players are at the heart of everything we do.

Support emerging, high potential, young female tennis players by delivering a scholarship and mentoring program. The Women’s Tennis Foundation Inc. Scholarship Fund has been established to provide funding to support and encourage young females to reach their potential to become world-class international tennis players.

Set up in honour of the late Jenny Henderson, a long-serving member of the Women’s Tennis Foundation Inc. Board, scholarships will be awarded in her memory.

In 2016, the inaugural scholarship winner was Gold Coast tennis player Olivia Gadecki who has since won national championships and represented Australia in the 16 and under Junior Fed Cup.

02 — Scholarships & Mentoring for Coaches

Increase representation of women in the tennis coaching industry through advocacy, industry reform strategies, and mentoring programs.

03 — Research

Strengthen support around young female tennis professionals by commissioning research that shines a light on constraints to a healthy tennis environment, by building strategies to overcome these challenges, and by advocating for change in the industry.

04 — Fundraising & Partnerships

Build the Foundation’s sustainability and broader reach by expanding fundraising efforts/events, global partnerships, research partnerships, and internal marketing capacity.
