Billie Jean King Cup, Brisbane 2025
The Culture Amp Australian Billie Jean King Cup team competed in Brisbane from April 10-12, 2025, at Pat Rafter Arena. Led by captain Sam Stosur, the team included Kimberly Birrell, Maya Joint, Ajla Tomljanovic, Ellen Perez, and Storm Hunter. Sixteen-year-old Emerson Jones also joined as the Orange Girl, continuing the tradition of young players gaining experience alongside the team.
Australia faced Kazakhstan and Colombia in the qualifiers, with each tie featuring two singles matches and one doubles match. The team aimed to secure a spot in the Billie Jean King Cup finals in Shenzhen, China later in the year. Birrell, who was ranked world No.61, played as Australia’s top singles competitor, while Kazakhstan was led by 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
Despite a strong effort, Australia missed out on qualifying for the Billie Jean King Cup finals, finishing second in their group behind Kazakhstan. However, they ended their campaign on a high note with a dominant victory over Colombia, as Maya Joint and Kimberly Birrell secured singles wins, and Storm Hunter and Ellen Perez completed a clean sweep in doubles.
The Women's Tennis Foundation was present throughout the event, supporting the Australian team and promoting the growth of women's tennis in the country. Their involvement highlighted the importance of fostering young talent and strengthening the future of Australian women's tennis.

50th Anniversary Special
The Women's Tennis Foundation's annual Breakfast with the Stars was a spectacular celebration, marking 50 years of supporting women's tennis. Held on January 14, 2025, at the Royal South Yarra Lawn Tennis Club, the event brought together players, coaches, supporters, donors, and fans to honor the foundation’s legacy and raise funds for future stars.
The morning was filled with inspiration, celebration, and exciting announcements, including the awarding of four $5,000 scholarships to promising young athletes. Guests enjoyed a two-course breakfast, special guest interviews, and a lively raffle, with all proceeds going toward supporting and promoting emerging talent.
Through generous donations and fundraising efforts, the event successfully raised significant funds to continue providing scholarships and fostering the next generation of Australian tennis players. The milestone 50th anniversary was a testament to the foundation’s enduring commitment to empowering women and girls in tennis.
